People Power

December is traditionally a time to look back and take stock of the year that was. And what a year it has been.  The particular challenges of this year have guided our monthly topics – which have covered themes like Purpose, Positivity, Momentum, Igniting Change, the importance of the Arts and of learning.

This year has seen social, political, and economic upheaval.  Journalist and October Insight guest Martin Flannagan has penned a brilliant piece on Trumpism that summarises the cluster that has been 2020 into nine central points. The crux of what is at stake is democracy, truth, and decency.

If there is one lesson to be learned from 2020 it is that, despite our best laid plans, life doesn’t always go to plan.  In fact, it can go dreadfully off script. What matters most is how we respond. And, despite the individual and the collective challenges of the year, in the people that we respond to.

Therein lies our People Power and the importance of humanity – as both a noun (fellow man) and a verb (common kindness).

As we power down for the Christmas break, and prepare to power up for a successful 2021, this month we bring you a snapshot of our world, full of great people – like Sandy Halpin and Maria Farmer – and great places, like our award-winning Paramount offices, the Paramount Rec Club and the Paramount House Hotel.

We wish you a wonderful and safe time connecting with the important people in your life, and we look forward to being part of your journey in 2021.
