Dangerous Women: Safety & Security

In partnership with GMRisk Group, The Office Space is hosting a Women’s Safety and Security talk just after this month’s Insight panel. GMRisk Group is a private security and safety company offering intelligence solutions and high-risk consultancy.  With offices in Australia, the United States, and Europe, GMRisk Group is able to provide solutions across various complex, high threat and emerging markets.

They work with some very high profile local and international profile, and also specialise in providing specialist training for media companies and journalist – not just for when they go overseas to conflict zones but also for their online and personal safety as they can be targeted due to having a public profile. Johanna Hamdorff from GMRisk Group has offered to run a short version of this training as part of their way to support International Womens Day / month.  The topics covered during the 1hr talk will be:

  1. Online security and personal safety;
  2. Personal space and comfort levels (especially in workplace context);
  3. Dealing with discomfort (appropriately reasserting personal space / control);
  4. Situational awareness and decreasing personal risk;
  5. Dealing with physical threat (strategies and action plans under threat);

This will be run free of charge in the Golden Age Cinema after our Insight talk.  You don’t have to attend the insight talk to come to the safety talk but the former is going to be so good, we encourage you to consider it!   We also encourage any parents to consider bringing their daughters along too. It’s always a good idea to be alert, aware and prepared for any situation that may arise.
